Our Vision

As we talked with atopic dermatitis patients, we discovered that few really understood the clinical reasons for their disease. When we scoured Internet dialogue about atopic dermatitis, there were few science-based discussions. This is understandable. It is hard for the average eczema sufferer to find and review the atopic dermatitis scientific and clinical research papers. We felt that even wonderful educational sites from the Mayo Clinic and the Cleveland Clinic contained information gaps.

So, we decided to develop Eczema 201, a site designed to provide atopic dermatitis sufferers easy access to science-based information about their disease. We intend for this site to provide information that is not covered in other educational sites. We hope that learning about atopic dermatitis will help you to discover strategies that will better manage your disease and avoid approaches that have no scientific basis or proven results.

Steve Garchow, Ceraclere, Medical Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis Expert, Ceraclere CEO? Who is CeraClere?

Our Founder

Over 10 years ago, Steve Garchow was interviewing patients about the care of their skin, when several said something surprising. “When I put this patch on, my skin disease disappeared.” These comments started Steve’s journey to develop a better treatment for eczema. Over the ensuing years, Steve was encouraged by his dermatology contacts to continue development of his idea.

It became a passion after he observed the FDA September, 2019 patient-focused drug development (PFDD) meeting, titled “More Than Skin Deep”. This meeting brought together skin experts to discuss the problems in developing treatments for eczema. Most moving were the reports from patients about their experience: the devastating effect this disease had on daily life, how people look at them when they navigate the real world, and how many different failed treatment approaches they had tried.

The following patient comment remains with Steve: “Having eczema is like having a dive suit on your body that constantly and uncontrollably itches that you can never take off.”

Based on his 40+ years in the medical industry, Steve is using the scientific processes learned there to develop treatments that will lessen the impact of atopic dermatitis on sufferers, through Ceraclere™.

How we build trust

Eczema 201 was written by Steve Garchow, CEO of Ceraclere™ . The information gathered about eczema were obtained from research articles from USA and International Scientific and Dermatology journals. Most of the articles identified by Dr.Philip Wertz. After postdoctoral training at the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, Dr. Wertz moved to the University of Iowa. There, he spent 37 years studying lipid effect on the permeability and antimicrobial barriers of the skin.
